Terms

Last updated: 31 August 2026

Plain English, because you should be able to read the terms of something you paid for.

What you are buying

Thingway is offered in two ways:

A desktop licence is for you. You may install it on your own devices. Please do not share your key publicly or resell it.

Your work is yours

You own everything you write in Thingway. We claim no rights over it, no licence to use it, and we have no access to it. Export it whenever you like, in any format the app supports, as often as you like, at no additional cost.

If Thingway ever shuts down

Software outlives companies. If we ever stop operating, or discontinue licence validation, we do not want your work — or the tool you write it in — to stop with us.

So, as a binding commitment:

To be clear: this is a commitment to continued access, not a refund. A perpetual licence that has already been delivered is not refundable because the company later ceases trading.

Refunds

Mobile subscriptions are refunded through Apple or Google under their own policies — we cannot process those.

For desktop licences, if Thingway does not do what we said it does, tell us and we will refund you. UK consumers keep all their statutory rights, including the right to cancel a digital purchase within 14 days unless you have already downloaded it and agreed to waive that right.

What we promise, and what we do not

We will do our best to make Thingway reliable and to fix what breaks. But it is software, made by one person, and we cannot promise it will never lose data or never have a bug.

Please keep backups of your work. Thingway stores your files in a folder you control precisely so that ordinary backup tools work on them. Use them.

To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid us. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud, and nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Acceptable use

Do not use Thingway to break the law. Do not attempt to circumvent licensing, redistribute the app as your own, or resell keys. That is about the extent of it.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects a licence you already hold, it will not apply retroactively to that licence.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and disputes fall to the Scottish courts.
